Stan writes and records instrumental underscore and source music for film & TV from his studio near Los Angeles. Styles range from tension to jazz and ambient, and his music has been heard on every continent, except maybe Antarctica. Having grown up on Brubeck and Bartok, he has an affinity for odd-metered music – which has been used to amplify the “feels” of a variety of dramatic scenes.  Here is a sampler:

Bio

After getting a BA in music composition, Stan toured with three different bands, traveling across the US and Canada.  One highlight of this period was working with jazz keyboardist Lyle Mays.  Later, settling in L.A. and getting an MBA, Stan built several businesses, including consulting and book publishing.  As an early adopter of the DAW – digital audio workstation – he resumed composing and recording, which lead to creating music for production music libraries who supply background, underscore and source music to TV and films.  He is a member of the Production Music Association, and has served as a director/treasurer on several not-for-profit boards (House of Hope, Jazz Bakery).    He lives in suburban Los Angeles and has two adult children, is active in his spiritual fellowship and enjoys traveling with his wife and his camera.
